The non-profit organisation ADES produces solar and energy-saving cookers in Madagascar and sells them to the local population at discounted prices. The 500,000th ADES cooker has now reached a family in Madagascar.

The non-profit organisation ADES sells its cookers in Madagascar at a fraction of their cost. Donations amount to only about a third of the investments made. Nevertheless, ADES can show impressive growth and has a solid financing model, thanks to which three francs currently reach Madagascar for every franc donated.

Solar cookers with thermal energy storage for families in Madagascar are intended to prevent even more forest from being lost in Madagascar. The solar cookers are being developed in a cooperation between the Lucerne University of Applied Sciences and Arts and the NGO ADES from Mettmenstetten.

The Swiss NGO ADES works to protect livelihoods and social security in Madagascar. On 20 April, it was awarded the Lipman Family Prize in Pennsylvania. The prize is awarded by the University of Pennsylvania and honours pioneering and innovative organisations in the social sector. For ADES, this is the second international award within a short period of time.
