Energy-saving cooking stoves (ICS)

The energy-saving cookers offer a weather-independent alternative for resource-saving, clean cooking at any time of day.

The energy-saving cooking stoves we have developed reduce the consumption of wood and charcoal by 50 to 70 percent. The cookers consist of a combustion chamber made of fired clay, a grate made of metal or clay and a tinplate casing. All components are manufactured in Madagascar.

We offer the cooking stoves in two versions: "OLI-b" for operation with wood and "OLI-c" for operation with charcoal. Likewise, the cookers are available for three pan sizes: 28, 45 and 60 cm.

Parabolic solar cooker

This solar cooker variant consists of a parabolic mirror in whose focal point the cookware is placed.

The parabolic reflector focuses the incident solar rays and generates a very high temperature at the focal point. This can be used to cook, fry, bake and deep-fry, similar to a gas cooker. It can also be used to sterilise medical equipment or boil water.

Parabolic mirrors are made of weather-resistant high-gloss aluminium and the frame of galvanised steel. ADES builds the parabolic solar cookers in its own metal workshop in the centre of Toliara.

Solar cooker

Solar cooking boxes enable emission-free slow cooking with solar power.

The solar radiation is absorbed by the black interior and also by the cooking pots and converted into heat. Temperatures of up to 150 degrees are generated in the boxes. Solar cookers are suitable for cooking, simmering, baking, preserving fruits, drying - but also for sterilising water or medical equipment. ADES also produces larger box cookers for schools and special cooking demonstrations.

Production in Madagascar

ADES makes a point of ensuring that all solar and energy-saving cooking stoves are manufactured exclusively in Madagascar. All basic materials are sourced in Madagascar wherever possible. The basic raw material for the clay cores of the energy-saving cooking stoves is the clay from the rice fields in the region around Fianarantsoa.

ADES pays fair wages, offers above-average social benefits and pays the school fees of all children of its permanent employees. The income of ADES employees benefits an extended family circle.
